In Response to One Liberal's Insane Rant...

I recently ran across some gross insanity on this site, and was compelled to create my own blog in order to expose and counter it.  So on one hand these incredible statements made me sick to my stomach.  On the other hand, the tripe inspired me to create my own blog.

One of the abhorrent hallmarks of any good liberal is what I call the "sound byte" method of debate.  Liberals cannot comprehend the intricate complexities involved in dealing with just about any issue.  To them, cause and effect are simple straight lines to be quickly drawn between the concepts they hate and the amorphous cloud labeled "bad."

But of course, there are still some in the country who are capable of higher thought - that is to say, cognition based on a careful analysis of multiple variables ("facts") that bear on any given issue, the DEGREE to which each variable bears on the issue, and the application of common sense to the entire process.  None of this is within a liberal's reach.

This poses a critical problem for conservatives.  We spend all our time explaining our stance on issues, complete with a set of facts and a breakdown of the analytical process behind our conclusions.  By the time we're done, liberals have already changed the subject by throwing out another sound byte.

Why do they do this, you ask?  Do they intentionally disregard reason?  No, the answer is far more disturbing.  The fact is that the majority of the population either a) does not have the intellectual capability to follow the painstaking yet necessary explanation, b) does not have the requisite attention span, or c) just flat doesn't care.  And so we have put a lot of time and effort into crafting responses an dmessages that miss the intended target audience altogether.  Frustrating, is it not?

So I give you some short and sweet responses to some of the ACTUAL statements I read recently in one particularly offensive liberal's post.  Needless to say the responses are grounded in analysis and common sense, but I don't bother to go into that because it's just not worth my time.  Enjoy!

"What a party. They defend hate speech, which they adore."
We defend FREE speech. Free speech often takes unpleasant forms.  You deal with it.  As Thomas Jefferson once said "I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it."  Liberals, on the other hand, would rather be forcefully constrained by unconstitutional laws than risk being offended.

"They would love to take old folks' Social Security away."
"They" very rarely advocate wiping out social security without suggestions on how to replace it with a better solution.

"They want to destroy the public education system."
The system has already destroyed itself.  "We" advocate cleaning up the mess in the most practical possible way.  Whether that includes vouchers and/or some other method remains to be seen.  What is obvious, however, is that pumping more money into the current system does not work.

"They love fiscal policy that rewards the few and starves the many"
We love free markets (AKA capitalism) that have created the greatest nation in the history of this world, where even those living in the projects drive cars, watch TV and have air conditioning.  And the fiscal policy we love affords even the poorest among us the opportunity to make it big in life.  For some the opportunities are more difficult to access than for others.  Yet they are there.  But left to your own devices you would destroy even the remotest of possibilities in the name of "leveling the playing field."  You would kill potential in favor of your own fatally flawed and simplistic concept of "fairness."

"They are ready to go to war to prevent children and families getting health care."
All children and families already have access to healthcare via Medicare, Medicaid, free and community clinics and hospitals, church and community outreach programs and emergency care.  This is not debatable.

"They happily prepare to shoot their neighbors."
We don't "happily" prepare to shoot anyone. We grimly prepare to defend ourselves, our families and our individual liberty.  We'd much rather not have to shoot anybody.  So if you and your government goons would simply stay on YOUR side of MY constitutional fence, we can all just get along.  My rights are not subject to the government's whim, nor to the desires of the majority that elected said government.

"And they do all this in the name of Jesus Christ."
No, we do "this" in the name of freedom.
